SKI BUYING TIPS

a ski boot
RENTING

If you are renting make sure your equipment suits you and do not be concerned about taking either the skis or boots back if you are not happy. So often skiers struggle with equipment which is not suitable and think it is their bad skiing.

Boots

Despite what people say boots should be comfortable. They should be tight to ensure whatever your foot does in the boot is transferred efficiently to the ski. However you should not get cramp or be in agony. Some days they feel worse than others and that may be the temperature so the trick is to relax and just let the boots warm up.

Skis

If you do not feel happy and confident on a pair of skis – change them. Do not feel that you should stick with them

SERVICING SKIS

Servicing is really important so always get your skis checked after icy conditions or if you hit stones. All shops service overnight so no excuses to have a lay in.

PURCHASING SKI EQUIPMENT

If you are buying then take your time, skis can be tested and it is a really good idea to try and test different skis in the same conditions so you get a feel for the difference. Whatever the pros say it comes down to personal preference.

With boots it is just a matter of spending time sitting around in them in the shop. Make sure you get a fitter that is not only experienced but patient. See if you can get a deal with a comfort guarantee and remember when you get out in the cold they will feel tight until they have warmed up.

PURCHASING SKI WEAR

Oh what a joy for us women. Such a different range from the UK and some of it really stylish as well as technically good. But be warned if you go mid or late season they may not have your size. a female skiier
